jazz It was quite blustery on parts of the course and a few up's & down's. Felt I ran OK but tired towards the end. Time seems quite slow for 10k but most peoples seem to be down due to nature of course. Was 2nd woman so pleased with that also, seemed to avoid being stung by the wasps unlike most other people! Lisrun This is the first time this race has been held and replaces their August riverside 6m race (sigh). The course looks like two and half laps in parkland and my guess is that its reasonably flat, but we shall see. *Update* Well it wasn't flat, there were a few short climbs. Basically, it was two long laps and one short one, but it felt much more complicated than that with a crossing point where you had to make sure you didn't collide with runners coming across you. A very cold evening for August made somewhat worse by being stung on the leg - I wasn't the only one, a few of us were stung. Mug and a lollipop to all finishers. 100 Marathon Club, North East Marathon Club 45:35 46:37 48:00 49:47 62.86
nochickenstrip Pleased with my performance, ran at a PB pace but... the course was longer than 10k, will update when official times are through, several runners made it out to be 6.5miles(ish) resulting in my 39:12... 11th Position out of 171 also got stung by a wasp about 4miles in... nasty!! Sorry about the bets, it wasn't my fault! Thanks to Rununman for dragging me along too! Crook & District AC, Durham Triathlon Club 34:37 36:59 37:50 39:12 68.24
RununMan Will look to improve on last weeks 10k PB if poss, but as my legs feel a little stiff today it may be a stretch. I'll see how I feel after the first 2k.
Race Update; Where do I start ... well not great!! Although I tried to warm-up and stretch beforehand, my legs were pretty sore and I basically ran the entire race in PAIN. The course was not the best, 6.5m!!, a bit contrived with double loops, cross overs and narrow paths with runners in both directions. Add to that local kids throwing stones at moving targets and wasp stings and you have the perfect running evening.
Do not think i will be doing this one next year! Birtley AC 35:26 36:16 37:00 39:34 70.34
Vicki: Graceless Whippet Cracking course - more like a cross country than a road race. Despite not getting near my pb I came 3rd lady :) Jarrow & Hebburn AC 43:52 45:18 45:32 66.21
