I have been running seriously since November 2005, having run sporadically for about 4 years prior to that. 2007 was a big year running wise, it began on a bad note - as I developed ITB trouble and had to miss 6 weeks of training in January and February. This took me a considerable period of time to recover from and it was not until June that I was back running somewhere near my best. After that I finished the year strongly with PBs over every distance I raced. My rate of progress continued and I started winning a few low key races in the Bristol area during 2008, and finishing in the top 20 at Race the Horse, the Stratford marathon and the Loch Ness marathon. This latter race saw me break 3 hours for the first time - finishing in 2.56.08. Unfortunately it also broke me and I missed 6 weeks of training through general knackererdness...
2009-2011 has seen further improvements, including a sub 78 half marathon. I am still aiming for the sub 2.50 marathon, although the distance just seems to disagree with me (up to 20 is okay!!!) Cross Country and Trail remains my best surface! I currently run unattached, having previously run for and managed Hermitage Harriers in Leicestershire and Westbury Harriers in Bristol. As manager I led Hermitage to success including Derby Runner League 2 Champions, National Final runner-up (both 2008). Leicestershire Road Running League Division 2 Runners-up (2007) and Division 1 Champions (2008). At Westbury we won several important team competitions including Gwent League (2011-2012), Avon, Somerset, Wiltshire Tri-counties Champions (2011), South-West XC Champions (2012), 3rd place (2011), Midlands Championships 5th team in 2011, 6th team in 2012, Man V Horse 2009-2011, Avon Mob Match Champions 2009.
